North Attleboro, MA – June 25, 2025 — Town health officials have temporarily closed Falls Pond Beach after routine water testing revealed elevated levels of E. coli bacteria. The beach is off-limits for swimming and all water activities until further notice.

The closure is a precautionary measure to protect public health and is expected to last at least until the next round of water test results is available on Friday. Signs have been posted, and residents are being asked to avoid contact with the pond water—including boating, fishing, or any activities that could lead to skin or accidental oral exposure.

E. coli is a bacteria commonly found in natural water bodies, especially during periods of warm weather and low rainfall. Health experts warn that exposure can lead to stomach illness, rashes, or infections, particularly for children, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems.

Town officials say they will continue monitoring the situation closely and provide an update as soon as new test results come in. Until then, residents are urged to stay out of the water and encourage others to do the same.

The town thanks the public for its cooperation and emphasizes that these proactive steps are key to keeping local recreational spaces safe during the busy summer season.
