Two Mansfield Firefighters Injured Battling Brush Fire at Industrial Park

Two Mansfield firefighters were hurt Friday afternoon while responding to a brush fire at 20 Cabot Boulevard. The fire had spread through the wooded area near an industrial building when crews arrived around 2:00 p.m.
While working to put out the flames, a dead branch fell from about 35 feet up and struck the firefighters. One suffered a facial bone fracture and was taken to Boston Medical Center for further evaluation. The other had a shoulder injury and has already been released.
Both firefighters are in stable condition. The department thanked them for their resilience and service.
The cause of the fire is still unknown. It was one of many brush fires across the state that day, as dry and windy conditions led to a Red Flag Warning from the National Weather Service. Fire officials continue to urge caution, as fires can spread quickly and be hard to control.
